Ars Technica's Opposable Thumbs blog is reporting that an apparently 'AO' rated version of Rockstar's Manhunt 2 has made its way to warez sites across the internet. "There have been a few videos posted on YouTube that seem to come from this version of the game, which the release notes warn may be a beta version, 'so no crying if it ***** up on you.' That inspires confidence. While this scene-release is being talked about in multiple places, fansite Project Manhunt has a warning: '...remember downloading this game is only going to slimming [sic] the already slim chance of Manhunt 3 ever happening,' they tell fans."

The Differences Between the AO and M Versions of Manhunt 2 42 comments
Via Kotaku, IGN had the chance to play both the AO- and M-rated versions of Manhunt 2, and they now have a piece up pointing out the differences in the re-rated game. If you've been curious about what is in that warez copy floating around online, they'll piece it together for you. Be forewarned: the stuff that got cut out is pretty gross. "The content may be too much for some to stomach, but the presentation is well done regardless. Manhunt 2's storyline is made more believable with realistic voice acting, atmospheric camera angles and pans, and moody transitional effects. There's even some comedy thrown in for good measure. Take, for example, a scene in which Danny decapitates a hunter and then uses his severed head to gain entry through a security door. A guard on the other side opens a peephole and sees the decapitated head staring back at him. 'Georgie Boy!' he exclaims. 'Come on in.'"

Manhunt 2 Leaked By Sony Europe Employee 59 comments
GamePolitics has the word that the leaked version of Manhunt 2 was put onto the internet by a Sony employee. "GamePolitics has now learned that the leak came directly from PlayStation Europe. Here's a statement from Manhunt 2 publisher Take-Two Interactive: 'Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has acknowledged his responsibility for the unauthorized online distribution of an unrated play-test version of Manhunt 2 submitted for the European PAL PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.'"

If the people who pirated Windows decided to use a free OS like Linux, Microsoft would have some real competition. As it is, I wonder if Microsoft doesn't allow Warez Windows to keep Linux in check...

Oh, that's right, this game never got published! The only way this could make its way onto the internet is if one of the raters from the ESRB uploaded the copy they were given to rate, or (more likely) it was one of Rockstar's own employees that did this.

So it's a story from july, and even the slug says it was his claim, not an order (the suspension, in fact, has not yet happened).
