Konami's Pre-TGS Conference 19

Tokyo Games Show is almost upon us, and there are already lots of hardworking folks out in Japan covering the pre-events. The first up today is the conference from Konami, running down the titles they'll be showing at this year's event. New titles include DS game Time Hollow, PSP title Silent Hill Origins, Silent Hill V, a Pilates game, and a bunch of content for mobile gamers. They also showed off the new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer, which apparently was full of spoilers. "Kojima moves on to Metal Gear Online. A new trailer runs. An overhead view of a soldier pans down to him being shot at. 'Where Are My Comrades?' reads the screen. We see two squads taking position on two separate roofs. 'Where Are My People Who Need Help?' reads the screen. Teammates help each other up. 'Where Are Those I Must Protect?' More squad tactics are shown, lots of gun fire, missile launchers taking out sentry towers. One fight takes place in a sewer, featuring solid water effects." The Online title will be available for play at the event.

  • Are my reading skills failing me, or did I see the word Pilates as one of the games listed? Dance Dance Revolution is one thing, but how in the world do you incorporate a game controller into a long series of leg lifts and crunches?

Don't think of it as a game, it's more like a "Virtual Instructor". Something more dynamic and adaptable than a DVD.

I think you missed the most disturbing bit: "One fight takes place in a sewer, featuring solid water effects."

Eww? The sewer was bad enough, but 'solid water effects?' The mere beginnings of imagination have me wishing it wasn't almost lunch time.

Solid water? Isn't that called 'ice'?

Then again, this is from a franchise that gave us a character called 'Solid Snake'. To distinguish him from the regular type of snake, which is gaseous.

What about that EyeToy thing they have for the PS2? I'd wager this piece of hardware pretty much failed in the U.S. but I'm not big on the PS2. I do know that Karaoke Revolution Party uses it and I saw a kid using it at a wal-mart demo.

      Cheers,

The wiifit board? or the eyetoy? Maybe you have to hit the buttons with your toes or something?

Why is Konami having a conference for Trans-Genders?
  • "featuring solid water effects" So, ice. Why didn't you just say ice?
  • One fight takes place in a sewer, featuring solid water effects.

Ugh. Solid water is the last thing I want to hear about when eating breakfast. Yuck.
