Press the Buttons noted that one of the games slated for unveiling at this year's E3 is a handheld console remake of A Boy and his Blob. The classic tale of a jellybean eating blob and his nameless boy may be coming for either the DS or the PSP, or both. From the article: "In the company's E3 press release a number of games are listed for the Nintendo DS and Sony PlayStation Portable, one of which is A Boy and His Blob. Which of the two systems the game is for isn't clarified (it could be one or both), but seeing as how Majesco tried to revive the series for the Game Boy Advance several years ago, I'm betting it's for the DS."

    This was one of the worst games ever. Please, please tell me this isn't true!
  • Did anyone ever 'beat' this game? I could never seem to finish it...i played it for WEEKS and it never ended.
  • I'd love another game in the series.
    Still, it was announced years back for GBA, and it never happened. So, I'm not going to get too excited until it looks like it'll actually happen this time.
  • I could see a use for the touchscreen in this game. Use it for far more accurate placement of jellybeans.

  • Did anyone else use the Punch Bean Bug?

    Once you're on Blobolonia, set a hole right on the right edge of the screen, then run towards the hole and turn around before hitting it. If done right, you skid into the hole at the same time you switch screens. You then fall into the 'end game' sequence. You move around on a platform and check out credits and pics and stuff. When I did it all the graphics would be garbled.. it was the only way I ever "finished" the game. I think you need to do this on the secon
    • lol, I just did it again, and got stuck in the cage where the blob is caught.

      Apparently all it takes is having a hole at the left-most edge of a screen and sliding into it from the right. I have the hole on the 3rd screen (day light area) and run in from the left. If anyone wants, I can send them a savestate. Or am I the only one who loves finding bugs in old VGs?

      Through this bug, you can read some of the developer's poetry about a cat rescue. It's horrible. Funny though.
  • I played this game extensively a few years back, when I was in grade school, I think (okay more than a few years back), and as I recall it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Not sure If I ever beat it or not, but I think not. Personally given my memories of it, I could care less if it comes out on DS or PSP.

    This is one of the first gaming announcements in the past couple months to warm my black little heart. Too bad it's Majesco, but they can't screw it up that badly... can they?
    • I don't know... watch them turn it into a 3D first person shooter, where the only jellybean you need is the one that turns the blob into a gun. Sigh.
  • "A Boy and his Blog returns. Handheld console" Hrrm - damn blogers are everywhere. Huh? D'oh!!!!
  • Think of the in-context marketing that is possible: Nike, Gatorade, Trojan.... What do you mean by, "I'm missing the obvious?" The Blob puts Jelly in his Belly!

    Hey this is pretty cool, you can make him turn into different things with different beans!

    Hey this is still cool, I'm making it pretty far!

    Hey look, these controls suck, my guy died because I was a nanometer off to the left!

    Hey look, flying enemies that are impossible to dodge! I think I'll keep trying to get past this 500 times and fail each time!
