Resident Evil 5 Aims For Multi-Console Launch 18

Gamespot is reporting that Capcom is aiming for a launch on the PS3 and 360 at the same time, for the next chapter in the Resident Evil series. From the article: "In an interview published in Xbox360ism (a special edition of Dorimaga), Capcom Research & Development division chief Keiji Inafune said he expects Resident Evil 5 to be released simultaneously on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 if possible. 'We want to grow the Resident Evil series into a multi-platform franchise, so we hope to release it simultaneously [on the two next-generation consoles],' Inafune told Xbox360ism. 'But since we don't know the launch period for the PS3 yet, so it's hard to say [if we can].'"

I find it rather odd that Nintendo isn't mentioned for the launch of RE5, given that RE4 was a GameCube exclusive for close to a year.

I'm not sure what this means, though it could be simply that not enough is known about the Revolution yet to talk about RE5 being on that platform as well.

Ok, first you started to release the RE series on the PSX, and all was ok.. Then, you moved over to the GC, made RE Zero, redid RE One with RE Zero's engine, and just ported 2, 3 and Code: Vericona X. I've dealt with that. Then you release RE 4, and what a great game it was. All of a sudden, I see RE 4 out for the PS2 with two extra features within the game, and wonder why you did not do this for the GC.

Now, you've gone and stated you want to *finally* try a multiplatform release, for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Note that the PS3 is not out yet, nor has Dev kits out, last I checked, AND you have yet to mention the Revolution, the which belongs to the same company you switched to first, then turned away from.

For crying out loud, pick a system and stick with it! I know you want everyone to have a chance to play it, but come on. If someone was new to the series, they would pretty much have to have a GC, PS2 and *at least* one of the newly released systems to play it. I wondering if you just gave up support of Nintendo entirely, or just not care about the continunity of your games' console releases.
