The Nintendo DS Games Wishlist 96

The site Retrogaming with Racketboy has up a wishlist of sorts, calling out the classic titles begging to be released to the Nintendo DS. Along with the Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World cart that I've been wanting to see for a while now, Racketboy calls out Super Metroid, the Sega Genesis Collection, and the Namco Museum as great candidates for DS releases. He also asks for new titles, like a compilation of Wario titles and a NSMB-style remake of Super Mario Bros. 2. "MattG PressTheButtons also had a really great idea for an original DS game that would serve as a follow-up to the very popular New Super Mario Bros. But instead of continuing with the traditional Mario gameplay, Nintendo would go back to the Super Mario Bros 2. (Doki Doki Panic) action, complete with turnip-throwing goodness. Would it be quite as successful? Possibly not. But I think Nintendo is currently in the position to take some fun risks with some trademark franchises that could give the gaming community something new to talk about."

Civilization (again, WiFi connectivity would make this ROCK),
Are you a grown man? Prepare to CRY! [guardian.co.uk] Look about 1/3rd the way down. Apparently the DS hasn't gone unnoticed by Sid and it's potential for Civ-Goodness!

Metroid Prime Hunters showed the DS is fully capable of running FPSes with sufficient controls and technical prowess.
As much as the FPS scene is saturated in the PC world, I'm amazed (and frustrated) there's only MP:H.
Come on! In the game world, there's pretty much nothing more fun than shooting your friends in the face... MP:H gives us that, other devs can do it as well.

Other types that the DS lacks is good shmups. Nanostray under-delivered but Nanostray 2 looks very promising.
And what about some good fighting games? The Guilty Gear port was bleh... how about a real port now? And how about some SuperSmashBros?

..what I want is an affordable DS cart loaded up with Firefox, a lightweight mail client (put the keyboard on the touchscreen), a lightweight AIM app, telnet/ssh, and maybe even an IRC client. Give me that, and I won't need an iPhone.

Firefox is impossible because the DS has too little memory to run it.

But you can have links/telnet/ssh/bitchX IRC with dslinux [dslinux.org]. A mail client (mutt or mailx) may be added in the future. If you have a host to run bitlbee [bitlbee.org] on you can have AIM via bitchX.

You'll need to buy a Supercard or an M3 (they cost small bit more than a DS game), and possibly a NoPass device (don't know how much they are right now but they should cost less than Supercard/M3). Check the dslinux wiki [dslinux.org] for more information.

Please, oh mighty Blizzard, hear my plea. Port Diablo, Diablo II, or best yet, a new Diablo III to the DS. The touch screen interface on the bottom for all the clicky-clicky. The inventory screen and map on the top screen. Yes, pure gaming bliss.
