GTA IV DLC Announced 49

Rockstar Games recently announced upcoming downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV, entitled The Lost and Damned. It's due out on February 17th, and it focuses on a member of a Liberty City biker gang, rather than Niko Bellic. Joystiq has some early screenshots. "In the original game, Niko crossed paths with The Lost several times. This time, Niko has only a bit part, [Rockstar's Dan Houser] says. 'The story is not directly impacted by decisions you took in the main game,' he says. But 'tons of details and mysteries from the main story get explained, so it will add a lot of color to the main story.'"

It may be pathetic, but it's not surprising. Microsoft paid Rockstar to make the first few rounds of dlc xbox360 exclusive.

Microsoft paid 50$ million for the exclusive rights to two large DLC packs for GTA, which is fine.
The thing is, I think a lot of people don't realise that for all the open ended gameplay for GTA the series has evolved over the years to being great single player storyline focused games.
Saints Row 1 and 2 are following the old GTA style of crazy gameplay with a loose story, whereas GTA4 was a fairly good story with brilliant presentation and a wonderful world.

I'm a complete and utter GTA fanboy, I loved GTA:SA and GTA4 and I purchased multiple copies (multiple systems) but I have absoloutely no desire for this DLC.
I personally find DLC just cheapens most games and makes them feel like a product rather than an experience, like a book or movie.
Would you pay for an extra 5 minutes of Star Wars (Lucas tried to offer it to us, again most of us hated it)

DLC has it's place but the only DLC for GTA I'd be interested in would be a full, complete expansion pack - ideally a new island and at least 20 or 30 SP missions plus some characters.
Frankyly I'd rather the dev time be spent on a GTA4 - II or a GTA 5 game.

That's just silly whining. What, you want to see a fully original city the size and detailedness of Liberty City done from scratch every 9 months? Well don't count on it because they couldn't do as good in little enough time if they had a billion dollar budget.

What they're doing is try to give you as much to play with for the work they did. You have a fantastic game but yet you don't want to see more content for it? That's mad, what's next, you're going to whine about bonus tracks on music albums? It's either you get more content so that you get more to play with and get to play the game from a different point of view which I find interesting (i.e. a badass American biker instead of an Eastern European immigrant) and get to do different stuff you didn't get to do so far, or you just wait for 4 years for the next installement. That's an easy choice if you ask me.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for you because you bet on the wrong horse? Jeez, grow up.

Too bad you bought the wrong console.

I don't care about MGS4. It's pathedic that they made it only for the PS3 and not the 360.

Oh wait, I do care and I do want, that's why I made this post.

If you wanted the GTA4 DLC you should've got a 360, just as when the craving for MGS4 becomes too much I shall purchase a PS3.

What's worse is that we knew the game was fixed over 2 years ago. Rockstar announced that Xbox 360 had "dibs" on downloadable content for GTA4 around the time that the PS3 was released. So, anyone who bought a PS3 wanting GTA4 with the extras was pretty far out of a loop that included, well, most gamers who were interested in GTA4.
