Comments: 1 +-   SPAM: Game Developers Should Shut Up About Used Games-> on Wednesday July 15, @01:36PM Ssquared22

Ssquared22 writes "If that feels like a rip off to some, you've got to admit that you can certainly tell that paying $30 for Gears of War 2 sure beats paying $60!

You may not like it, but people are going to trade in used games for new games and those old games will be sold back to new people looking to play the original game. There's nothing game developers can do to stop them and companies like Gamestop continue to laugh all the way to the bank. In an article at Crispy Gamer, David Thomas (no relation!) dissects one of the most critical issues in gaming today: used games and merchants (online and brick-and-mortar) who specialize in this "sleight of hand"."

  • Long time ago, we complained about the expensive $30(AU) games on the Commodore 64. The official answer was "piracy" made it that way.

Brand new, first time seen in a store, the Amiga. No body owned them yet, and the games were $70(AU), because of piracy. If no one owned the machines then, how could there be a copying problem.

Playstation were $80(AU) before anyone worked out how to copy them.

Drop the prices and people will buy more games, and they wont need to buy 2nd hand, or borrow from a friend..
