Submission + - Canonical launches Ubuntu Edge indiegogo campaign

loosescrews writes: Canonical has launched an indiegogo campaign trying to raise 32 million USD in order to build a limited run of super-premuim handsets. The phone will dual boot Ubuntu mobile OS and Android and come with a fast multi-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, 4.5in 1,280 x 720 HD sapphire crystal display, silicon-anode Li-Ion battery, 8mp low-light rear camera, and 2mp front camera. The black body of the phone will be "...crafted from...textured amorphous metal... [with] chamfered edges...shaped to fit naturally in the palm." The phone will use the full Ubuntu desktop interface when docked with an external monitor and the Ubuntu mobile interface when operating as a handset. The first orders are expected to ship April 2014 if the project is funded.
