How exactly is that going to help? The people that spend their time playing kid's games online are the least effectful. Have you seen Twitter? Millions of protesters decry every tiniest detail of society (and speech), but effect absolutely nil in the real world because they do nothing but complain from the comfort of their very own (and smelly) armchair. I'm sure Carrie Lam can survive a few virtual bug nets while she was terrified of real actual protesters out on the street effecting meaningful change.
But on the other hand, it is a lot harder for them to bludgeon and tear-gas this type of protest into submission, so their message will play for much longer, and to a much wider audience. Futility isn't the same thing as pointlessness. Your argument is, though.
There will be no need to bludgeon or tear gas them because the police would not care if they went around destroying virtual stores that they *feel* is associated with China or when they set virtual people on virtual fire because these people disagree with them.
They can harass and congregate around virtual police stations all they like.
I think you might be characterizing the type of in-game protests going on entirely wrong. This is a virtual game where you can built your own pro-democracy, pro-Hong-Kong stores and houses. No need to vandalize or kill anything. And here's where your mischaracterization is particularly crippling to your own understanding: this type of protest will garner global support rather than resentment.
