The problem your seeing is that right wing, pro-corporate candidates tend to win. The solution is getting more young folks, who are less conservative, into the game. But there is active voter suppression in the form of 3-8 hour wait times at their polls.
We need Universal Vote By Mail and Automatic Voter Registration. Ranked Choice voting would help to, as it would make 3rd parties viable and put the current 2 party system back on it's toes.
