I wonder what the Sony marketing team is thinking. Neither Golf games nor Need for Speed have the broad appeal that bundled games should have. As if the console didn't seem expensive enough anyway, they want us to get 2 games, at least 1 of which most people won't like.

If those games are really bundled with the system, they better have the option of buying the console for less without those games.

    • Just curious which one most people won't like. As a videogame retailer I think that Tiger Woods 2004/5 and just about all the NFS series have been our biggest sellers. True, golf on a handheld might not be the greatest thing ever, but it seems to work for the GBA.
      • I am afraid I wasn't clear. I didn't mean that one of the games was of poor quality. I've not played the PSP version of either, so any guesses on quality would not be very fair. What I meant is that, as a general rules, the people that buy golf games are not exactly into racing games, and vice versa. Thus, you get a bundle of 1 game you'll probably like, and one that you won't play at all, and that has a $0 trade value. Traditionally, bundled games had a really, really wide appeal at the time, like Sonic the

    • Actually, the new Tiger Woods games have done very well in the market, and with the revamping of the Need for Speed franchise with last year's release of Underground, I think that NFS and Tiger Woods, though not the games with the MOST drawing power, would be fairly solid choices.

I don't think Sony understand the difference between console gaming, at home, and hand-held gaming, on the go. They are different experiences, requiring different types of games.

The PSP, it would seem, is going to have a library of PS2 ports and clones. Whilst this in itself is not a bad thing, I don't think it's ideal for portability. Most people that will be buying a PSP already have a PSP, does sony really think that people are that interested in buying scaled-down versions of their home game offerings?

Why not innovate, or at least embrace the word "portable" with simpler games. Advance Wars is a great example of the ideal portable game. It's not overly complex game, yet tons of fun.

Actually, the PSP will be faster than existing PS2s, so if it will be scaled any direction, it will be up.
    • If Nintendo can clone SNES games onto GameBoy Advanced and profit. PSP can do the same damn thing to PS2 and PS1 games.

I don't ever remember someone saying Metroid 2D on gameboy was a bad idea. In fact people wished gamecube has a Metroid 2D port.

Hmm, is that the game where you put Tiger Woods into a 4x4 truck and go racing (mudding) around golf courses? Or in a souped-up Pontiac GTO racing from mall to mall looking for the perfect clubs?

Sounds like a Harry Potter movie title too -- I guess it could be turned into a movie.

I read the article and I don't see where it implies anything about games being bundled with the handheld at release. (That first sentence only says the games will ship at the same time.) If anything, it suggests that there will be a mere 6 titles at release time:

"These two titles will ship in North America alongside NBA STREET and NFL STREET as well as two other unannounced games when the system will make its debut in spring 2005."

I hope they're just referring to EA games because I don't want to have to wait very long for other previously announced titles (like Metal Gear Acid and Ys).
    • The article subtitle is the only indication: "Need for Speed Underground Rivals and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Golf bundled with PSP."

      Didn't RTFA, eh?

(From the article:) "Of particular note is the rumor that Tiger Woods and NFS will be included with the PSP at launch. Not specified in the article itself, a GameSpy article included a subtitle of "Need for Speed Underground Rivals and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Golf bundled with PSP." We'll let you know once we confirm this crucial bit of information."

No, it's not confirmed by any means, but it is a strong rumour.
