    Oh well.
  • Not sure if the pay is free or not, but they have a credits system for buying items. Prices are insanly high. I just don't see people paying out the nose for items in a text based world. (why people pay for them in graphical world either I don't know)

Actually, we've been using that business model since 1998 quite successfully. People who are into text are at least as obsessive about it as those into Everquest, etc and some are willing to pay quite a bit to speed their progress some. You can get everything in the game by just playing it without paying us, but paying will accelerate certain areas of progress (notably your combat abilities....doesn't help at all in things like politics.)

Text may be a small niche, but it lives baby!

  • How is a "text MMO game" different to a MUD, MUSH, MOO, or whatever M** you prefer?
    • It is a mud, but recently there has been discussion in "our" community, of which there was one issue brought up, MUD doesn't sell. Mud is associated with dirt not with a fun game to hang out with your friends.

But Lusternia is a mud. I am suprised this makes it to the slashdot readers though. Darn Matt, you did it again.

  • Text MMO....isn't that more commonly called a MUD??? O_o
  • or does Lusternia sound like a porno set in medevil times..

"Sir Black Knight, your lance is soooo big"

"We are but poor nubile commoners we cant afford to pay the taxes.. perhaps thou wilst take other payment....(at that point a bard busts into some sweet porn music on a mandolin)
