But i suppose it gets round the 'go to work' problem that the sims had, students don't go to lectures.

Instead you can goto the grant office, get cash then just go to the pub/bar and try and get laid while taking drugs.

I wonder, can you become a chemist or grow weed to sell?

My sim just graduated Harvard with a double major!

I, on the other hand, just dropped out of community college. Just couldn't find the time to go to school in my busy life.

Ahh...but will there be LAN parties?

90% of my college LAN parties involved trying to get a IPX and Windows 95 network started for Doom. These kids today have it easy.
    • Yeah, we tried playing GTA multiplayer a few times, over IPX I think. It was horribly slow, but still cool. :)

Toward the end of 1997 though, enough good network games were out that it was basically one big ongoing LAN party on our hall.
    • hehehe. my idea of a "lan party" was dialing the other phone line in our apartment and playing attack sub 688 with one of my roommates. i don't even think i had a network card in my computer until maybe 95-96.
    • That's nothing. I would have killed to have it as easy as you. My college LAN parties went like this:

Me: Hey, why don't one of you guys buy an Arcnet card so we can build a network.

Buddy: No way man, that's like $300, which if I were to project it 20 years into the year 2004, would be like $3000. So what kind of games do you have anyway?

Me: I've got this neat thing called Turbo C, so we can write our own games.

Buddy: God damn you're lame. Turbo C won't come out for 3 years, and I hear you will need two floppy drives to run it.
      Let's get drunk instead.
    • Yeah, and then you get 10 minutes of play and it freezes because someone's BNC connector is dodgy, so you reorganize some of the cabling... repeat ad nauseum

    • Ours were all about xpilot in the undergrad labs late at night.

One of our lot wrote the code for nukes. I think I was the first person ever to get a full-on nuclear wind in the face...

  • A pretty good idea to integrate into the Sims game. Defitnely add some cool content that would add atleast another 20 hours of game play. I enjoyed playing the Sims 2, but I did get bored of it since the game play was similiar to the original. Sims 2 had some nice new content that kept me entertained for quite awhile, but after I explored it all I couldn't play it anymore. I guess I got burnt out on the original Sims. I would say $19.99 is a good number for an extra 20 hours of game content, but no mor
  • Getting wasted at a kegger...
Getting laid by the hot chick you just met...
Initiation to get in the frat...
    Streaking across the football field...

Lord knows us nerds would jump at the opportunity to do this (if only in virtual reality).

I'm going to make a George Castanza sim and take up marine biology and architecture. I'll fulfill his dreams.

Then he'll get a job at Vandalay industries on the side.

  • If you're in college, can you get college credit when your instructor threatens to flunk you for playing The Sims 2 all the time?

Makes you wonder if there will be those who spend more time in their virtual college classes instead of the real ones....

I'm playing this game right now. It sucks. Arbitrary grading, traffic trying to get to class, books costing $100+.. wait.. you mean playing behind a computer? Oh.. my bad. ;P

  • The ultimate irony: Students failing out of college because they spend too much time playing The Sims.

Sad thing is, I'm so lazy, I'd rather attend classes and do projects in The Sims rather than travel across campus!

So, do you get to slowly pay down the $40,000 in student loans over the next 30 years of your Sim's life? Also, when do we get The Sims 2: Midlife Crisis and The Sims 2: The Retirement Years (but you can't really retire because your employer just went bankrupt and took your 401(k) with them)? No, I'm not middle-aged, but I think it's funny that EA is convincing millions of people that managing someone else's life is more fulfilling than managing their own.
  • Yet another reason to hate "The Sims" and all it's incarnations.

I already live "Life v1.0", so why do I need the sims?
  • Funny thing is, back when I was in school I remember skipping a week's worth of classes to play Fallout2. So now the Sims2 gives me the ability to simulate doing that all over again? Oorg it makes my head spin.
