This is completely pathetic. I can't believe this article was even posted.

      1) Nitro Online are complete fools. They continually promise things, then change the story. Check out the current builds, there is hardly ANYTHING there. They have made almost no progress, and make promises that are literally impossible. This article should be about Team XLink, as they are the ONLY ONES who have successfully tunneled the DS.

      2) GameBoy DS? More proof that the guy who wrote this doesn't know what he's doing. The Nintendo DS is N-O-T a GameBoy.

      3) Teamxlink.org. Go there. Now. Seriously, Nitro Online are just trying to steal the limelight.
      • You're totally correct. They have no technical skill involved, and are basically doing a "IS THIS POSSIBLE" forum post as a sourceforge project. Generally, it's a stupid thing to head a project, say you can do it without a problem, post it, and then say:

      • The Nintendo DS has a slot for DS games, and it has a slot for GBA games and GBA flash carts containing emulated [webpersona.com] Game Boy Mono (DMG) games. It does not have a slot for Game Boy Color exclusive games.

Because in every story about the DS, if the editors just say "DS" in their summary, then someone will post asking what the hell a DS is, and complaining that they should say Nintendo DS or Gamboy DS in the summary so that they know it's a game thing. One would think that the fact that it's posted in the games section, or perhaps even reading the article itself might be a big clue as to what a DS is, but I guess not.

You want real tunneling with the DS? Team XLINK [teamxlink.co.uk] are working on it..

The Nitro peeps are claiming 100% comaptibility with all wireless NICs in windows. Now this is impossible as most cards will not support promisc mode in windows, not to mention that they ignore BSS stuff most of the time.
    • I don't think we should be saying anything about these types of projects until one is in a beta stage and has something to show about it.

Honestly, there are a lot of good ideas that are soureforge projects in Pre-Alpha stages. How many projects actually get to beta, though? I'm guessing 10% or less.

Tunneling the traffic doesn't mean you can run your own code. Unless nintendo creates a telephony app for the system, you won't be able to use it as a VoIP phone. The difference between playing it online and playing it simply amongst a local 'pod' of users, is that the traffic is intercepted and tunneled across the wired internet; Where as the ability to play against your local 'pod' depends on the availability of other DS's. For this particular application, There is no modification on the DS side of things

    • They didn't pass on it. The Nintendo DS has built-in Wi-Fi capability already, and they have stated that online play is possible. The only thing that's stopping it is that no games have been released yet that support internet play. But, considering that the console has only been available for a month now, I would expect some online-enabled games to be released, along with the possibility of a stand-alone e-mail/WWW/IRC client cartridge. The hardware is there, somebody just needs to put it to work.
