Blizzard Adds Tinfoil Hat to Solve Armory Complaints 53

A blue post on the WoW forums shows that blizzard's official stance on player aversion to the Armory will be addressed by adding a new item, the Tinfoil Hat. "While the Tinfoil Hat provides the wearer with added protection against mind control and other befuddlements, the hat's most interesting and truly unique property is that it completely removes the wearer's character profile from the Armory website and provides enhanced privacy for its wearer!"

I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...?

Man I am really looking to the new WoW sequal, WHoA!

And if you go to their forums you'll see everyone is posting "blue" except the CMs which are all level 1 trolls :)

I wasn't (though no one is going to believe that), but personally I think such an item would be funny as hell. They added the Sword of a Thousand Truths after the South Park episode, so maybe all the conspiracy theorist Dark Elves have some hope.

WoW does have real items such as "The Unstoppable Force" (a wicked-looking hammer/mace/scythe thing), and its companion, "The Stoppable Force" (a simple wooden mallet). It also has, I'm told, items which you can fish up which turn you into a ninja or a pirate.

So, this Tinfoil Hat item would not be entirely out of character for them, either as an April 1 joke, or as an actual, real improvement to the game.
    • [Tinfoil Hat] Increases the chance that the wearer will resist Mind Control, but at the expense of having intellect reduced by 100 and chance to resist Fear reduced by 75%. Doubles the effect of Paranoia against stealthed black helicopters.

If you go fishing in the Barrens you will find Deviate Fish pools. Just fish those up, and cook them to make Savory Deviate Fish. Eat one and you could turn in to a ninja or a pirate. The fish can be used in Alchemy to make a an Elixir of Giant growth which will increase your size and do +8 stam to fit your new size.
    • They also have "The Immovable Object" (a shield) to compliment, sold from the same guy. i haven't yet seem what happens when they meet. =D

Fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice shame on you.

Maybe there's some obscure joke I'm missing here, but, I think you've got the saying backwards-- the point is that it should be your own fault if you get fooled twice by the same person for similar things (whereas, it is clearly wrong of someone to fool you in the first place, hence, fool me once, shame on you). Seriously, no fooling!

... OK, so the fact that I have nothing better to do than post this comment is pretty darn sad.

    • It's the other way around.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Shame on you for being deceitful.
Shame on me for believing you twice.
    • Fool me seven times, shame on you. Fool me eight or more times, shame on me.

Equip: Hides the wearer's profile from the Armory.

Equip: Allows the wearer to see "the truth." May lead to an incontrollable urge to share "the truth" with others.

Use: Grants the wearer immunity to all forms of mind control for the next 10 sec...or does it?

"On behalf of the International Gnomish Conspiracy, I've got to inform you that we're almost out of tinfoil."

Requires Tin Bar (99), Fused Wiring (4), Troll Tears (8), Heavy Leather (4), Star Ruby
I'd like one just for the joke value, but that's going to be too expensive to buy in the AH. Bummer.
  • If you cut holes in your tin foil hat so your pony's ears fit through, does it lessen the effect? I wouldn't want Stardust to be turned into a Government sleeper agent.

I have been reading posts all damn day deriding the use of humorous stories, on our beloved slashdot; on this famous day of the fools. Granted some of them are less than hilarious, but just the same there is some humor in all of them. If those of you that are such sticks in the mud (thats a polite term for heads up your asses) that you can't take one day out of your over serious lives to enjoy a bit of humor you indeed have a sad life. Here is a cyber dime. Go buy your self a sense of humor

Oh yeah I am out of mod points so those of you that have any left mod this as insightful.

  • A long while back, like a year ago, some friends convinced me to record this joke song I wrote called "Foil Hat".

    I know, it's stupid. I know...

but I thought it was funny to sort of go along with this announcement.

  • I had a friend play a Gnome who had a Mechanical Squirrel as a Warlock pet - he was an engineer.

Well, when he put on the Tin Foil Hat, the Mechanical Squirrel went all haywire and started chattering on about "Coffee! Must have Coffee!" and other such things.

    So, don't use both.

It is easier to write an incorrect program than understand a correct one.
