For fans of SpaceChem, the Android port is unfortunately basically a direct port. The UI is pretty much identical to the PC version, and although the game runs on a recent phone with a decent-sized screen (The S2, for example), the UI does not scale to match the screen. It's playable on the S2, but just barely. The game was ported with tablets in mind (which makes sense, they ported to IOS for the iPad first)

However, if you have not played SpaceChem, grab this bundle just for the PC version. It's a fantastic puzzler.

    • Running OK on my Galaxy S III. I expect it'll be really annoying at later levels with complicated setups, though. ...oh, and apparently letting your screen lock is a bad idea, because the game restarts. Damn.

    • It's just barely playing on a Galaxy Nexus... and that's pretty dang borderline. I'm not sure if I were just picking it up for the first time I'd be able to play it (recognizing symbols and words as much off of memory as what you can see on the screen). It's a shame too, there's so much screen space that isn't used, some of it even being letterboxed out. Maybe they'll update someday? I can hope?

Readable, but the icons are bloody hard to select and drag - right at the limits of "fat finger on small touch screen" hard.

Same with Uplink. Readable (about the same font size I use in SSH on the Galaxy Nexus) but not easily clickable.

However, I'd played none of the bundle games before and will be buying a Transformer Pad Infinity when it's released in the UK, and they should be quite nice on that :)

  • I played the tower defense game and it is somewhat classical. The downloads were quite slow, but that might have been the "first 6 hours" effects. They are also releasing a software to upadte all your "humble indie bundle games" for android so that you are always up to date. Which is pretty useful. (Not sure if they were doing that before or not.)

  • Repeat titles (Score:4, Interesting)

I want to support this on principle, but several bundles have featured repeat titles. I already purchased Uplink and SpaceChem through Humble Bundles. That is half of the base bundle here. Unless there are more new titles added as bonuses later, I'll pass. Fieldrunners HD is fun, but $2.99 by itself. Normally I throw $15-$20 at these bundles to support them, but it just doesn't seem worthwhile here.

    • Considering Uplink and SpaceChem were only offered in their PC forms before, this is still a deal. I agree, though, that the repetition of bundle games is driving down my personal demand.

I bought it for uplink on android. I played the uplink pc version demo a long time ago up to its end. now that i got uplink from purchasing the introversion bundle from introversion (to get defcon) and buying it again from humblebundle (mostly to support the bundle idea), i do not find time to play it on pc. Most time when i sit at the pc i want to do something other, but i hope with the android version i can play it in bus & trains.

Is it worth $0.01? Then you should pay that much. If the other half of the bundle is worth less than a penny, you've wasted quite a bit of time writing this response. If it's worth more, then you should pay that much.

    • The solution seems simple:
If the Bundle has 4 games and only 2 are new, take $15-$20 you normally donate and make it $7.50 to $10 this time.

    • This however is the first time you can get Uplink and SpaceChem for Android though. Besides, a lot of people would have not bought the previous packs which had Uplink and SpaceChem anyway, and given the fact you often can't get a lot of the games features on these bundles anywhere else but on the humble bundle (and especially Linux versions), there's a lot of value in repeat bundles.

    • Wow, I'm having more fun with these than I expected. Pretty slick. I spent $10 this time, I'll bump that up next time.

  • Loved a lot of the game soundtracks from the previous bundle I got (Bastion, Amnesia, Swords & Sworcery, etc). Haven't heard about much of these games, but since this bundle also includes their soundtracks, can anyone comment to the genre/quality of these games' tunes? I might get it primarily for that.

  • So Linux users pay the most but does that figure include Android linux? I suspect not. Else it would be low like the windows average. (I pay $1.)

The blog for Humble Bundle had a post about Android users. Based on user specified platform, Android users on average pay relatively well for the Humble Bundle ($7.43 for Android vs $5.73 for Windows vs $9.92 for Linux). http://blog.humblebundle.com/post/20036460987/android-gamers-showing-their-generosity [humblebundle.com]

It's a bullshit metric anyway. I've installed the games on my phone and registered the Steam keys on Windows, is my purchase price counted as Android, Linux or Windows?

    • The pie chart given for the bundle doesn't include Android, though buyers can select Android as their demographic alongside Mac, Windows and Linux. I don't know if Android not being included in the pie chart is just an oversight or if people just aren't clicking the Android checkbox enough for it to show.

I doubt Android is rolled together with the Linux stat.

    • My guess is they use the agent string of the browser you log on with by default, but you can decide afterwards where you want to be counted. Android is an option there, but curiously it doesn't seem to get counted in the main page stats.

Does anyone else feel like these are just coming out a bit too fast?
I mean, I like having cool, affordable, and charity-benefitting games and all, but it seems that the "Humble Bundle's" are cranking out every month or two.

Beyond that, we have FieldRunners which is... yet *another* tower defence game. It seems like the IOS/Android market are full of these. A bit more originality would be nice, especially since the earlier bundles seemed to be about games that were - while not the best graphically - often quite original in gameplay/theme (the rest in the bundle seem to fit this fairly well)

    • FieldRunners was one of the first hit tower defense games on iOS, which predates the Android market completely, I believe. Based on the continued polish the game got, it's probably worth checking out, even if you've seen many other games in that genre on the platform.

    • by godrik ( 1287354 )

I agree with that, there are too many humble indie bundle. So what I do is that I buy one once in a while. I still haven't finished braid (which I believe was in the second one). An other approach is to buy them for $1 if you are not that interested.

    • by EdIII ( 1114411 )

If you want originality then Spirits is part of the bundle!

It's so cool. You must choose a few good spirits to build stairs, change wind flow, and act as guides for the rest of the spirits, making decisions that may ultimately sacrifice the few to save the many...

      Totally original :)

Remember, all these include PC games too. If you haven't played SpaceChem and BIT.TRIP BEAT this is well worth grabbing. If you want to see 2 minute reviews of any of the games I have a playlist over here with 4 out of the 5: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2CA23F2EE37011DC [youtube.com]

Wouldn't mind trying Spirits, but I all but one of these already and didn't want to spend an extra $5 for that alone. Maybe if they add another bonus later to sweeten the pot a bit. Normally don't mind dropping a dollar or two each game, though I can't justify much more than that because I generally only play each for a couple hours. (Steam says I own 428 games)

  • Neither Spacechem nor Uplink are actually playable on an Android phone, FYI, which is a real shame.
