jones_supa writes "The cartoon heroes are back, with even stronger superpowers. Deep Silver Volition has announced Saints Row IV for an August launch. From the press release: 'In the next open-world installment of Saints Row, Deep Silver Volition continues the story of the Third Street Saints by elevating their status to the highest level – the leaders of the free world. In Saints Row IV, the head honcho of the Saints has been elected to the Presidency of the United States. 2 and Third were great. Insurance Fraud is probably the best minigame activity in the series. And nothing beats the gang war against a bunch of furries in Third.

There were times I had to pause the game until my eyes cleared I was laughing so hard.

Loved each iteration of this game in the series. Even the buggy turd that the first game was, it was still a ton of fun, and each successive game was even better than the last. Odd though it may seem, that insane description in the summary is just the natural progression of this franchise.

The game was already dancing around the edges of superpower fantasy blasting around the skies in VTOL jets, hoverbikes, skydiving, charging through a hail of gunfire, throwing people across the street. Now they're just goi

  • So they aren't ripping off GTA anymore, and moving on to ripping off Prototype and Infamous instead?
  • ..haters gonna hate. "You do crime in 3rd person in a city.. OMG GTA RIPOFF". The only games that have been ripping off GTA... are GTA sequels. SR2 and SR3 are both better than any GTA game ever made, except the first, which of course I still own for PC. Sadly I no longer have a 3dfx/glide card to enjoy it with.

I picked up Saints Row 3 on a whim when it was something like $10 for the game and all its DLC on Steam. Before that I'd known little of the series and the advertising/reviews hadn't really been compelling enough for me to try it out.

As if ripped from the brain of an acid-tripping Mark Millar, SR3's balls to the wall ridiculousness somehow works, and co-op support takes it to a whole other level. I'm hooked. Give me more.

SR3 is actually not that good compared to SR2 :-)

In SR2 you could pimp out everything you owned, my personal favorite car is the APC, pimped with candy glossed purple military decals. Also, SR3 is frankly too easy, you get all the goodies served; in SR2 you had to earn your way to the penthouse, just felt that much more satisfying.

That being said, SR3 was extremely entertaining and I'll be first in line for the SR4 release.

      tl;dr, go pick up SR2.

While I generally agree that SR3 felt more limited than SR2, the problem with SR2 is that the PC port is buggy as hell and a huge performance hog, which crashes regularly on many machines. It doesn't even run properly if your CPU's clock speed isn't the same as the console it was developed for.

Yeah, sorry, I should have made it clear it was on the PS3 I endorsed it :-)

Never tried it on the PC, but I've heard some horrible stories.

  • Looks like the same game engine as #3, making this more like DLC then a new game...
    • Well, they were originally going to release "Enter the Dominatrix" as DLC - but then they changed their mind and said they were going to release it as a standalone game; it seems likely that it'll be a lightly modified SR3 engine under the hood.

  • Saints Row IV is Announced, if you run this across Google Translator it translate to Cash Cow is getting Milked.
  • Leaping over buildings, cars with unwieldy speed? Anyone remember Crackdown?
  • 2 words. Suh weet. Saints Row is more fun than GTA nowdays, and that's saying a lot.

Every nonzero finite dimensional inner product space has an orthonormal basis. It makes sense, when you don't think about it.
