Xbox Cloud Gaming Coming To iOS and PC in Spring 2021

Microsoft has shared some details about the roadmap for its cloud gaming service. In addition to Android devices, the company confirms that it plans to add support for more platforms. In Spring 2021, Microsoft will launch its cloud gaming service on iOS and on computers. From a report: Originally called Project xCloud, Microsoft's cloud gaming service lets you play Xbox games on non-Xbox devices. The games run on a server in a data center near you. The video is streamed to your device, and your interactions are relayed to the server in real time. Xbox cloud gaming isn't a separate subscription. People who subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $14.99 per month can access cloud gaming as part of their subscription. The plan also includes access to a library of games, EA Play and Xbox Live Gold. When it comes to new devices, you'll soon be able to launch a game on Xbox cloud gaming from a PC. The service will be available in the Xbox app and using a web browser.

You're in a very small minority if you think it's too expensive - pretty much every tech website and tech channel on Youtube think it's the bargain of the century. Have you ever looked at what games are on it or are you assuming they're just shite ones they can't sell?

Its $9000 just to keep the service for 50 years. I will not spend that much getting the games on Steam over the same time frame.
I have seen what games that are on it. Most are shit I wouldn't buy. On top of the other issues that the service will have
1. I doubt it will ever be stable enough to out perform my home PC
2. Bandwidth needed is crazy. Specially since most connection in this country are capped
3. You lose access to your games and saves as soon as you stop paying. At least I can work around the St

It also doesn't help that the best game Microsoft has release in the last couple of years has been MCC on the PC.

Tried 3 different games on a good 100 mb connection.  It was impressive, but unplayable. The only way this is going to work is for slow games or games specifically designed for the platform.

Cancelled my free trial after 30 minutes. Didn’t help that they have a shit game selection.

I'm not being paid by MS, but I received an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription as an early Christmas gift and have been playing it. I'm actually pretty impressed how well it works. I had a gamepad attached to my Android phone and have been streaming Halo MCC, Control, ClusterTruck, and Untitled Goose Game on 5GHz WiFi with a 100Mbps Internet connection. Only the last one is a slow-paced casual game, the others are fast-paced action of some sort.

In my case, it works better than WiFi. Honestly, I probably would complain about Steam Link less if I used the power line connection more, but I really like the convenience of playing PC games on a handheld.

The latest generation of PL adapters works pretty well. I am also using a Steam Link with powerline and it's perfectly fine for me. As the other poster mentioned, it definitely is better than WiFi, at least in my environment.

You should try steam streaming with the android app for a more accurate comparison with the xbox app. it is a well known issue the wifi chip on the steamlink device is very weak.

My sons (17 and 19) and their friends unanimously want the Playstation. They all laugh at the thought of anything Microsoft Xbox related. I'm a gamer too (52) but I have always preferred the PC and never a console. My sons say Xbox is dead. Is it?

Not if games continue to move towards cross-play.
Xbox is finally 100% open to it, both on PC and the console.
Playstation is dragging their feet, because of their dominant position, but many games are working around them for crossplay.
If this trend continues, everyone will be able to play on the console they prefer, and the console wars will be less extreme, limited only to exclusive games.

We originally had an xBox, and then a Wii, but when the kids got their first Playstation that was it, Playstation all the way. I remember their friends that had the second generation Xbox coming to our house to play the Playstation, stating that it was better. And yes, my kinds, and their friends, are a big pile of nerds.
