Netflix Launches Into Video Games for Android (bloomberg.com) 20
Netflix, the video-streaming giant, began its expected foray into video games with the introduction of five mobile games to its users worldwide, playable initially on Android devices. From a report: The titles are included in a Netflix subscription, and there'll be no advertising or additional purchases required, Mike Verdu, Netflix's vice president of game development, said Tuesday. The streaming company has targeted video games as its next big thing -- it's an industry that's larger than the movie and TV businesses. Players logging in will see a dedicated games row and tab where they can choose which titles to play. Games for Apple's iPhone are also planned. The initial offering includes titles linked to Netflix shows, such as Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3: The Game. Also included are Shooting Hoops, Card Blast and Teeter Up.

This story is about native Android games built into the Netflix app, not cloud games.
Just like the interactive videos on Netflix use local native code to handle the interaction.

WTF? If what you said was even remotely true there would be no games at all on iOS! There are games, therefore you are ultra dead wrong.
Respond as you will, but whatever you say further is simply wrong as you don't seem to understand anything at all about the games in question, or about Apple's policies.

If they had sports, even for an extra fee, it would be the death of Cable.
Unfortunately, most major sports have existing contracts with TV networks and those TV networks will continue to bid high to keep them. I wish that the sports leagues would have a more open policy where anybody could stream their games for a fixed rate. No more exclusivity agreements. Whoever has the most attractive platform will get the most people watching and will bring in more money for the sports leagues.

Convenience keeps the cable bundle alive. I get all the channels I want and a consistent interface from the company I already have to pay for internet (and it barely costs more than internet alone). To get the same channels I actually watch would require 4 streaming services and actually cost more, and require me to wait for months after release to watch some shows. Cable is still the most convenient alternative.

For some reason I could have sworn Netflix made a game for the show "Squid Game", but I can't find it - maybe that hasn't happened, but it sure seems like an obvious choice to build a game from...

Ha! I also read all about the Squid Game crypto coming (and going), but the game I thought I remember hearing about was before the crypto was even a thing.
Maybe it was one of the fan created games, of which there are apparently a few now.
