Sony has confirmed the PlayStation 2 has sold over 160 million units worldwide since its 2000 launch, marking the first official acknowledgment of its record-breaking lifetime sales. The figure, revealed on Sony's 30th anniversary PlayStation website, cements PS2's position as the best-selling gaming console ever, ahead of Nintendo DS at 154.02 million units and Nintendo Switch at 146 million units.

If DS sales are going up, it sounds like Nintendo may be doing similar?
When was the DS generation last manufactured?
I feel like it's been a long time since even the 3DS generation had anything made.

No one cares Sony. It wasn't relevant during the "console wars". It's even less relevant now.
PS2 being a DVD player helped it sell. (Score:2)
I ended up with one in trade back in 2005. I was actually impressed and wished I had bought one when they first came out. Granted, I never played the most famous titles on the system. But a PS2 and a Netflix DVD subscription was a killer combo for my then-wife and I. Plus, "Kya: Dark Lineage" was an underrated game I wish had been more popular than it was. I'm still a Kya fan today because I loved the fact she wasn't the usual "damsel in distress" female character. She could kick enemies square in the nuts.
