World Cyber Games 2004 9

prakslash writes "Some 700 players from 72 countries are competing for $400,000 in prizes at the World Cyber Games 2004 in San Francisco. The 5-day tournament is being held for the first time outside of S.Korea. The players, some of who are national champions in their own countries, will be battling against each other in games like Unreal Tournament, Counter Strike, Need for Speed, FIFA 2004 and Halo."

    This does a lot to bridge the gap between gaming and the more 'traditional' sports. For one, based upon the spelling and grammer in this post, the general population can (finally) rest assured that nerds and jocks are BOTH equally stupid.

    • One reason why computer games may never become a popular spectator sport is because the players always look so bloody gormless when they're playing the games.

      That and it can be really boring to watch other people play computer games. Although I feel the same way about normal sports and games.
