John Carpenter's Snake Plissken Gets Game 23
An anonymous reader writes "Snake is back from the ashes, and this time it's gonna be a videogame made by Namco! It is based off the new comic book, and John Carpenter, Debra Hill and Kurt Russell all seem to be involved! 2005 is a long time to wait, but here's hoping it is better then Escape from LA." Another reader points out an MSNBC article discussing the resurgence of the un-Solid Escape From New York character, whose videogame adaptation looks to be courtesy Namco Hometek, US-based developers of Dead To Rights.

Escape from LA.... well, can't blame them for trying to make some more cash.

The character art looks pretty darn cool too. If they do this right, it could generate the kind of popularity Vice City [rockstargames.com] did, yet with a Fallout [interplay.com] flavour.

In general, I agree, but The Thing [imdb.com] is just brilliant. Moody, atmospheric, the people behave comprehensibly (including panicking in reasonable ways), a perfect music score, and the special effects hold up remarkably well even today.
And I love Big Trouble In Little China [imdb.com] just because the 'hero' is so completely out of his depth. Nobody else would tell the story that way.
