Halo Movie Award Winners Announced 15

CobaltNova writes "Several weeks ago we announced the 2003 Rockets on Prisoner awards, recognizing cinematic excellence in Halo movie making. Seeking to distinguish the most creative of Halo fans, the awards have now come to a conclusion, and it is time to announce the winners. We're also pleased to announce another Halo fan-film aficionado and sponsor: Bungie themselves, who are donating a prize pack to the winners."

Does anyone know of any download sites for the "Warthog Revisited" video besides the ones listed. I can't seem to get it with sound. The warthog jump is awesome though those guys must have wayyyyyyyy more time on their hands than girlfriends would ever allow. That said I don't think it even remotely deserved the "Best Movie" award. The guys at Red vs. Blue have put a lot more imagination into their work than a couple guys who played it so much they got bored and decided to just start blowing shit up. My 2 c
    • Warthog Jump and Warthog Jump Revisited are the "Birth of a Nation" of Halo movies: Sure, they're not impressive compared to movies that came out years later, but at the time they were a revolution, and they almost singlehandedly launched the entire Halo machinima scene.
      • Simmons: Why Warthog, sir? Griff: I think it looks more like a puma... Sergeant: What in saint hell is a puma? Simmons: Ah.... you mean like the shoe company? Griff: No! Like a puma, it's a big cat, like a lion. Sergeant: You're making that up. Griff: I'm telling you, it is a real animal! Sergeant: Simmons, I want you to poison Griff's next meal. Simmons: YES SIR! -www.redvsblue.com
        • WJ and WJR are much, much older than that joke.
          • Simmons: Lepricon?
Griff: Hey, he doesn't need your help!
Sergeant: Phoenix! ... Hey Simmons, what is the name of that mexican lizard, that eats all the goats?
Simmons: Ehm, that would be the Chupa-cabras, sir.
Sergeant: Hey Griff! Chupa-thingy, how 'bout that? I like it, got a ring to it...

My thoughts exactly. They were technically groundbreaking, but the triumph of their importance is somewhat tainted by the fact that they are so fucking racist...

        Oh wait. Not so much.

Maybe you should have said they were the "Battleship Potempkin" of Halo movies. You know, because they helped invent the visual language of the genre, but ultimately were communist propaganda...

Dammit! Are there ANY seminal movies of schola

    • Warthog Jump was pretty much the first Halo Vid.

It started the entire genre, and that is why I believe it got the best movie award.

The Bungie programmers were amazed at what was pulled off in that video, they could not imagine that their game engine could do that.
  • You know a developer loves their game when they donate prizes to a contest that they aren't even running.

"They're going to kill us all!"

Man, do I want a stuffed grunt!
  • For those too lazy to use a search engine, here's a working link to download the last movie: How Not To Be Seen [the-junkyard.net]. If that doesn't work here's a direct link to the search query: Google: "How Not To Be Seen" Halo [google.com].
  • It doesn't have the flashy effects (Church's Ghost et al) but the effects it does have get the job done, and these guys put a lot of work mixing the music with the video. They should be directing music videos.

While they were all pretty cool, they should probably seperate out a music video category - Personally I liked the blood gulch series much more and thought they should have won. I recommend the rest of the series (its like 13 parts). I have never even played HALO, but its pretty funny... I think I have to go buy an XBox now so I can play halo...
