Valve's Counter-Strike - Condition Zero Exposed 21

Thanks to 1UP for their CGW-sourced interview with Counter-Strike: Condition Zero's newest developers, as Mike Booth of Turtle Rock Studios is quizzed about their work since they "took over development of CZ around the end of July." The recently-completed game, which Valve have used a multitude of developers on, has now added the Official Counter-Strike Bot, and bot teams "actually speak to each other using a new voice chatter system equipped with hundreds of lines of dialogue", and even think they're sitting at their own PC: "...when a bot does react to a stimulus, it must actually move a simulated mouse and with an appropriate amount of aiming error."

So does this mean the bots can go online, and download aimbots too?

Does this mean it has to leave when its mom says to go to bed? Because that would definitely make me think I have the real CS experience.

"actually speak to each other using a new voice chatter system equipped with hundreds of lines of dialogue"

Will the bots speak in English, or 'l33t-sp33k'? And I don't think hundreds of lines of dialogue really count if half of those lines is the same sentence said over and over just by different people.

Anyone else not thrilled about playing CS with Stephen Hawkings all the time? :/

At least I might win a game or two against him, I'd imagine. If not, my mad skills really suck.
    • How many of those lines are variations of "You suck" and "I own(zer/xor/@#$)ed you"?
  • Just what I need. So i get a headshot on one of them who was using a wallhack and an aimbot, and in an eerie Steven Hawking voice I hear:

    "j3w l4m3r n00b f4g"

followed by me being kick/banned from my own single player game.

    Joy.

  • I found this Did you know? fact at the bottom quite alarming.

People actually die while playing Counter-Strike. In wacky foreign lands it's not totally uncommon for enamored teenagers to starve to death in front of their copies of CS. Now that's a game with some serious mass appeal.

Definitely the good form of mass appeal.

    • Hehehe...evolution at its finest. Beware, the l33t are being cleansed from the gene pool! =P

South Korean dies in marathon game session

A 24-year-old South Korean man dies after 86 hours of straight gaming[counterstrike] without food or sleep.

According to an Associated Press report, South Korean police said today that a man has died after an 86-hour gaming marathon. The incident occurred at an Internet cafe in a town 160 miles southwest of Seoul, where the man, who was unemployed, had been "virtually glued" to a computer since Friday, skipping sleep and meals. The man collapsed near

  • I have always wanted the computer to control mice in games like warcraft and starcraft, there have been so many occasions where I KNOW that no human would be able to select those particular units on seperate screens and give them orders all at once. Make the computer do everything with a mouse and a field of view.
