The Guy Game - Adult Console Trivia Nirvana? 52

Thanks to IGN Cube for their preview of the the adult console trivia title, The Guy Game, as created by the "newly formed Topheavy Studios... run by Jeff Spangenberg, former head of Retro Studios, which was responsible for the GameCube hit Metroid Prime." The fruits of this illustrious pedigree seem to be a game that "...features topless, M-rated nudity... [and] integrates drinking game A**hole, allowing for custom rules." The title even features the 'Flash-O-Meter', which "...is rated Soft & Squishy, Sorta Chubby, and Super Stiff", depending on the amount of nudity involved, and the game also features a "stage of play... called BallzOut, which a bunch of mini-games designed around clever ball physics." Sadly, the title "is still looking for a publisher", even if IGN are "somewhat excited by it."

    drinking game A**hole

I wonder what naughty word is under those stars? Arthole? Addhole? I sure do wish I knew, that would be swell.

    See you in church Sunday!

    • I didn't realize that talking about ant holes was so prohibited. I'll remember in the future to keep mum about my ant farms!
    • Ah, editorial screwup. The usual word to be censored this way is "Asshole", which would mean two asterisks are used to censor "ss". The actual title of the drinking game is "A***hole", with three asterisks. It censors a completely different word, of course. Uncensored, it's "Alcohole".

Or at least that's the only way I think it could make sense as a title of a drinking game.

This game is sad simply because we can't put on some pr0n and drink with our friends. We make ourselves work for it now. Answering trivia is fun, but it seems like your only motivation in this game is to get drunk and see naked women, neither of which involves a game normally. YDKJ always was kind of fun at a party even without the "jubblies" though.

Ah, You Dont Know Jack was a classic. The British version of couse, voiced by Paul Kaye. The only problem with it was the lack of questions. After playing it non-sstop all night (yes, this DID happen) you started to get to know the answers in advance.

I tried playing the American version, mainly because you could expand it with downloadable modules, but due to all the cultural references I didnt find it as funny. I'd imagine the same would go for Americans playing the UK version.
      • I agree, I'd love to see an xbox version of YDKJwith a monthly(weekly?) new question file, then have questions picked based on last time they came up.

I imagine this game(the guy game) would get equally boring as not only would you have trivia becoming tired, you'd also have to sit through the same nudity over and over again. I like boobies as much as the next gamer, but its going to be just like any other FMV - Repetitive as hell. I also don't find the women in the screenshots that hot. If I wanted girl-ne

Guessing you didn't get a chance to play YDKJ: Online, back in the days of Bezerk (or whatever it was called). They had a thing going where several times a week, they'd put up new "episodes", containing new questions you can play through, and they had prizes for high scores. It didn't take the questions and add them all together to make a game like the norma

    • Welcome to college. I swear, I could never figure out why I wanted to play a game where only when I screwed up or got screwed was I allowed to drink. But damn it, being president was worth it!!

These days (I'm 3 years out, dating a 4th year in college), I'll play, but I rarely drink when I'm supposed to...beer is too good to guzzle. I realized about my junior year that I just really liked playing cards *and* drinking beer and asshole was the perfect combination. Now, you start playing drinking strip pok

Out of all systems, they pick GC... Well, it could possibly be the easiest to operate and easiest to find power button under the influence. But then there's always still the matter of turning your tv to the right channel..
    • IGN also has an Xbox preview [ign.com] of it, so there you go. But don't immediately discount Nintendo from letting a game like this get released on their system. Despire all their kid-friendly games, they still allowed an uncensored version of BMX XXX for the GCN. And it was Sony of all people that demanded a censored one.
  • I've never understood the point of games that try to titillate.

In this internet age it would be far quicker to find a far more realistic image by just firing up your browser of choice.
    • The point is, that in order for a game to be considered "mature" or "adult", it may feature only "immature" and "juvenile" humor.

Remember, if you have to think, it isn't manly.
  • At least we won't have to put up with Sierra's humour

...Make an AO MMO sex game where all you do is have sex with other people's characters. All the free publicity from the religous right, the far left, and Joe Lieberman crying bloody murder, will guarantee an instant hit. Even if the game sucks. And it most likely would. If anyone would buy a game like The Guy Game, or a Strip Poker game, or something like that where they just get some tits flashed at them, they'd sure as hell buy this. They can even charge monthly fees. And developers love those.

Now theres a game that should be eye-toy compatible. Or a killer-app for Xbox Live.

(I wouldn't play this game, but you have to admit, it would sell. Especially among Slashdot readers.)

I'm going to watch moms buy this for thier kids, and then end up suing someone.
  • When I started reading the article "Adult contest game", I thought this would be real cool, specially for non gamers, imagine a multiplayer game show with questions about sexuality, wars, literature, politics etc. Unfortunately a lot of people confuse "Adult" with "completely immature" what a shame.

Like I said in a previous post, this kind of games never take off due to their lack of quality, obviously the publisher is relying on its shock value instead, and at the end that will sink the game. Judging by
