So you spent more on the game than your video card?

Why is it that to enjoy this game I feel like I have to do a bunch of work? Once I spent enough time tweaking the game to make it playable, I quickly found out the gameplay was about the same as watching a very slow movie with no dialog in it.

Great Idea. Nice to have a comprehensive look at the purpose of all those game files. Normally you have to search several articles to get this type of information.

Also I am sure it will you will gain some knowledge you can carry over to Mods and other games.

Very cool - as editing Doom 3's config files can give tremendous results. For instance, setting the following gave me a noticable boost (enabling me to go from 800x600 in medium quality to 1024x768 on high quality without loosing speed):

    seta image_useCache "1"
    seta image_cacheMegs "256"
    seta image_cacheMinK "20480"

Maybe they should find a guest writer to explain how to make a "Next" button link to another page.
  • now i can actually finish the game instead of waiting for the xbox version. some of these tweaks are insane.
  • halflife 2 is where im going to do my tweaking.
