EverQuest 2 Things You Wish You Knew 31
IRex writes "EverQuest 2 is a great game with less than great documentation. There are literally dozens of commands hidden where nobody but the most persistent sleuth will find them. With that in mind TenTonHammer has posted a list of Things you wish you knew earlier in EverQuest 2 compiled and edited with permission from a list originally created by Sere of the Blackburrow server." From the list: " If you see a "lair" object in the world such as a rats nest, snakes nest, sabertooth tent, etc... with the appropriate type of mob around it, this is probably a dynamic adventure camp. If you kill everything in the camp, the next time it spawns it may spawn harder creatures, named monsters, etc..." Since release, people have been asking for more than 4 character slots per account (that's right, not 4 per server, which is still a little low, 4 per ACCOUNT). SoE didn't comment for a month.
A couple days before the new billing cycle, someone discovered that when he switched to the $22/month "Station Pass" (which gives access to all SoE games a person might own, except for SWG) he got an additional 4 slots. After about a day of debating on the boards, one of the Mods formally announced that yes, they would be adding 4 character slots, but only for the people who paid an additional $7/month.
I'm what's known as an alt-o-holic, I like to experiment with the diffent classes. I'm not going to validate SoE's decision to gaff people who want more than 4 characters. Hell, when I switch to WoW next week, I can get something like 8 characters per SERVER if I really wanted to. For the same price as the BASE EQ2 subscription.
I'm guessing that SoE really didn't want to announce this "special option" (which isn't so special for those like me who had no interest in any of their other games) until after the billing cycle, so they could get another $15 from the people they knew would quit. Yea I"m out the $50 for the game, but I'm not throwing new money after bad, I cancelled my account.
I'm certain that Sony will try to get at least $30/player by mid year next year for a "reasonable" level of features.
