jujubees writes "Games to movies, movies to games -- it's not an unfamiliar trend anymore, and today the most popular online shooter is next in line. Counter-Strike has been picked up by German director Uwe Boll (known, or hated, for game-to-movie adaptations like the recent Alone in the Dark, upcoming Bloodrayne, etc.). Boll is currently working on the script, which will remain true to the spirit of the game. While the studio is debating whether to use real actors or not, there has been interest from Hollywood actors Ben Affleck and Colin Farrell. "

    While I won't venture as far as you in deciding the reason an author choses a certain category, my best guess is that the idea of a counter-strike movie is just kind of funny in-and-of it's self.

I can't see how the movie could be true to the game. A movie where the actors repeatedly fight against terrorists in the same place for 30 minutes isn't likely to be a blockbuster hit. On that note, I am really interested. I'd like to see real-life renditions of some of the popular maps in CounterStrike. Although, for some reason, I don't think they'll be using fy_pool_day or fy_iceworld :).

first of all: THE GAME HAS NO SPIRIT MORE THAN FOOTBALL or any other team vs. team sports.

second.. the game has no plot so most probably the movie wont have a plot either.

third.. I don't enjoy movies that much where you have to shoot 8 bullets from a gun into a guy before he dies(from pistols).

I haven't seen many Boll movies but it just doesn't seem right. Maybe if the audience were the actors and all the theaters were connected by a laggy DSL connection, it might work true to the experience. (FWIW I use DSL...*sob*)

In my opinion, it shouldn't be done at all, the game has no plot, it's all action. What could possibly be done with it?
