Trailers for Arkham City, Prey 2, Prototype 2 35

A gameplay trailer has been released for Batman: Arkham City, the upcoming sequel to 2009's Arkham Asylum. The game is due out this October, and according to a preview at Eurogamer, the game's developer, Rocksteady Studios, is taking seriously "its role as the Dark Knight's caretaker." Another trailer comes from Bethesda, this time a non-gameplay teaser of Prey 2, after the game's existence was officially confirmed. Kotaku reports that the game will have some significant differences from its predecessor, but details are vague and the game won't be released until 2012 — not unlike Prototype 2, for which there is also a new trailer.

I can't wait to run up walls and pass through vaginal doors! [gamingblog.org]

Linked article title: "Prey shows off Female Vagina"

Good thing they were specific. I was afraid I was about to see a male vagina for a second there.

      • It says a woman's vagina, not "female". ALL female mammals have vaginas, so specifying it looks like a woman's as opposed to, say, a giraffe's is not a mistake. Particularly when the game deals with many different sorts of creatures.

        • Gah... nevermind, its in the title. I missed that. In my defense it does say "woman" in the body of the article :P

      Man, that's simply too disgusting.
    • "Nevertheless, You can also see a piece of big gun, which exactly looks like a penis."
Have they ever... seen a penis? If anyone has one that looks like that screenshot, I hope they see a doctor immediately.

I also must wonder why they make the distinction "female vagina" as if there's ever anything else?

I like how the title of the linked page mentions female vagina. Is there any other kind?

Too bad you're going to have to do it as another boring ass space marine. Forget the original protagonist, he was too interesting!

  • So I see 3D Realms not only has nothing to do with Prey 2, but they also are no longer involved in Duke Nukem Forever or Max Payne 3.

What exactly DO they do there at 3DR nowdays?

So many original new games! Not a single one of them a sequel! Who would have thought that major publishers would finally get around to making new, innovative and never-before-seen games! Also: exclamation marks!

Batman was good enough to deserve a sequel, but the other two . . . no. Prototype wasn't a bad game. In fact, it was good. But I'd rather see new stuff than more of that game. Prey? Meh. I don't know anyone who gives a fuck about Prey. What a random fucking thing to turn into a franchise. I guess it was just easier than coming up with new assets.

    • Nobody wants new, innovative and never-before-seen games, silly. It's all about sequels and re-hashes, that's what sells the most.

A video game sequel is a different beast than movies and other media. The 2nd or 3rd iteration of a game can often be far superior and usually more innovative than its predecessor. Assassin's Creed 2 made the first look like it was a proof of concept. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood added a very unique multi player experience (or at least compared to whats currently out). Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2 saw a huge leap in visuals and game play mechanic improvements not to mention the acting and story telling.

Mass Effect 2 was far and away better than the first, ditching most of the RPG elements [...]

Funny, I thought that Mass Effect 2 was worse off because of that. It was shorter, more linear, and generally less interesting plot-wise. The fact that it had been watered down into little more than another cover-shooter didn't help.

    • Did you play Batman: Arkham Asylum? That was an extremely innovative game. The control system made it more like Batman simulator than just a Batman game. I don't see a reason why you wouldn't want a sequel to that title. Even if it's just "more of the same," that same is really, really good.

Fuck innovation. I would settle for just any good non-dummified game that doesn't try to target the lowest common denominator. There just aren't any quality games around, period. Every game company is working hard to increase the poly count, to make everything voiced over and motion captures, and fuck the gameplay. Everything is made simpler and simpler. Ridiculous. I wish we could go back to the days of text bubbles when superior gameplay was the only way to stand out from the crowd.

  • Prototype 2 AND Prey 2! PREY..FUCKIN'...TWO!!!! FUCK YES!

This is the best news of the year so far!!!!
