Sony Is Planning a PS5 Conference For As Early As Next Week (bloomberg.com) 14
Sony is planning a digital event to showcase games for its next-generation PlayStation 5 that may take place as early as next week, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter. Bloomberg reports: The virtual event could be held June 3, though some people also cautioned that plans have been in flux and that the date may change. Other PlayStation 5 events may follow in the coming weeks and months, and Sony is not expected to reveal every essential detail on the console during its first presentation. The Japanese tech giant has only let out a trickle of information on the PlayStation 5, which the company says is still planned for release this holiday season, despite the Covid-19 pandemic that has damped its promotional plans. Fans have been eager to hear about the lineup of video games that will launch alongside the console and those that will be revealed later.
They were mostly digital anyway (Score:3)
Video game conferences are cool and all, but only a tiny percentage of people could attend them anyway - so it seems like for a while now announcements have been mostly online anyway, so I don't see any downside to what Sony is planning to do here.
If it fares well It may mean video game conferences (well, at least E3) fade away quite a bit... it happened ten years ago or so for photo gear conferences, video game conferences have had their time.

They probably don't even know what "aspect ratio" is, nor do they know how bad it is to not respect it.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that aspect ratio is the Rodney Dangerfield of the design world.
Too many people think "design is easy" and we get bullshit like botchered aspect ratios, images saved in the wront formats, flat user interfaces, hidden controls, pale pastel colours, lack of contrast, etc.

That was true around 2008 but not anymore. The popular off the shelf engines like Unreal and Unity have created a wealth of knowledge about their optimization. Not to mention vulkan and dx12 on the driver side of things. You can see this effect in the port costs dropping so sharply that timed exclusives were all they can afford.
The console advantage is not there anymore.
