    • It's supposed to have 35 surprises.

      Moar games?

Omeone would be happy if it say could be made to run GB + GBC + GBA games too I guess.

    • Slashdot seems to get fewer and fewer comments nowadays. I guess the number of users must be way down from what it used to be
      • The tone and personality of this place changed since I first started using it back in the late 90's/early 2000's. Though the whole internet has kinda become less friendly of a place as more people began actively interacting with it.
        • Used to get regular threads about cool programming problems and discussions (if that is not an oxymoron). Now the front page is dominated by US-centric events and politics. Even the nerd stuff is more likely to be 'best socks to wear whilst coding' articles. I suspect the real nerds have flown the site to escape the trolls and superficial articles.
  • These will all be bought by scammers who will jack the price 10x and sell them on ebay. I'll pass.

For some reason, Slashdot tends to "forget" that I checked the disable advertising box a day or two after I click it. I'm sure that's just a glitch. Not intentional at all.

        Fortunately, adblockers work just fine.

I bought one of those. It's not worth the time, money, and effort to make it usable.

First, I had to fight to get them to ship the damn thing. They apparently don't have inventory. They go through some drop shipping outfit like a shady ebay seller 20 years ago. Let's call it my first and last purchase from Slashdot Deals.

The unit itself is one of those NES on a chip jobs. The buttons are all wrong, so I had to swap them around to make it playable. (The traces are easy to cut and solder, at least). Ther

Yes, nostalgia, but $50 seems steep for a handheld thing with a tiny screen and otherwise limited capabilities. The retro game consoles which have come out around Christmas over the past few years are far superior, and I think they were priced lower.

    • $50 seems on point for a 35 anniversary collectable widget. This isn't a general consumer product, so there's no point comparing it to one.

Releasing a very small screen for people now in their 40s and 50s doesn't seem like a great idea. Our eyesight isn't what it used to be.

  • I thought sites being slashdotted was a thing of the past but,...

Anyway, it looks like a nice little handheld.
It's obviously an NES on a chip and stuff,
but I think I'll still pick one up if I can.

  • There seems to be a limited pre-order directly on their coming...

  • Seriously? FLASH? You couldn't find a link to a page that wasn't designed by an intern in 2001?
  • 1. Stop using the Game & Watch brand, if you are no longer making watches.
    2. Nintendo could easily add a dozen games of their 715 or just a few of their exclusive rights titles, but they don't want to compete against their Switch Nintendo
    service.
    WTF you greedy bast@rds.

    3. You can buy the same thing from China for $20 that has every NES / SNES rom ever made.
