Nvidia Leak May Reveal Unannounced Games, Including God of War For PC (theverge.com) 35

An Nvidia GeForce Now server has leaked a confidential list of thousands of games, some of which have never been seen before, like the PlayStation exclusive God of War seemingly coming to Windows PC via Steam. Developer Ighor July has published the list to GitHub. The Verge reports: Here's a screenshot of what that looks like in the GeForce Now client, according to the developer. There are reasons to believe the list is legit. We know graphics giant Nvidia has access to games long before they're released -- and we know Sony in particularly has been banking on banking on PlayStation games on PC. It quietly revealed Uncharted 4 was coming to PC, after seeing a 250 percent return on its investment porting Horizon: Zero Dawn to the platform, and it was just Thursday that Sony announced it would be part of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection -- a name that we'd never heard of before then, but already appears in Nvidia's list as well. So too do Demon's Souls and Final Fantasy XVI -- the games where Sony had to retroactively retract all mentions of PC to make them sound like PlayStation exclusives. PS5 exclusive Returnal appears as well, as does a Final Fantasy VII Remake for PC.

And there are codenames for games in here that seem original, ones that bring up zero search results. Is "Platinum" the internal name for Bethesda's Indiana Jones games? But there are also a lot of mentions that seem rather out of date or out of place, like a whole host of Facebook-exclusive Oculus Rift titles that would make little sense on Nvidia's GeForce Now cloud gaming service, or a mention of a "Titanfall 3" which clarifies that it's actually "GAMEapex_legends_-_titanfall," aka Apex Legends, the popular battle royale game. And some of them may simply be guesses, like Kingdom Hearts IV, "BioShock 2022," and so on. All of that means you should probably take any given name on the list with a grain of salt...

  • This is going to upset a lot of Sony fans who poo poo Xbox because "Exclusives aint exclusives if you can play them on the PC too"

Especially since its literally they're only defense of why anyone would waste the money on buying the PS5 if they already have a halfway decent PC. And as much as Sony would hate to admit it, exclusives to their console will never make them (and developers) nearly as much money as they will if the game is available on multiple platforms - especially PC. Exclusive games to just one, singular console, in general, is both bad for their bottom line and consumers.

I have a pretty good gaming PC, so why on earth

      • Why I have a PS4:
        - I sit in front of a computer all day. The change is welcome. (Yes, I could get a gamepad and hook the PC up to the TV...) This might also be because my gaming PC is also my work PC. Just a different OS.
        - Plug & play. More often than not, on the PC I have to deal with some random issue. Such as windows hiccuping, the game's DRM acting up, drivers requiring update because reasons. I don't get so much shit from the console. Also the console is less of a hassle to set up for 4K HDR output

        • 1. You can hook up your TV to a computer and sit in a chair. I have that setup at home.
          2. You computer is fucked and needs a nuke and pave, your console can have the same DRM problems, turn on auto updates for your drivers.
          3. Hey, so does my PC
      • Save up, by a PC.
If you are going to save $500 for a console, just double the wait and spend $1000.

Upset? Playstation exclusives are all over Steam. They don't release new titles on Windows, but porting exclusives isn't anything new. It sucks that we have to wait 2-3 years for the new Horizon game, but at least we'll get it eventually.

    • I think it would if they were released at the same time than on the PS or shortly after. So far the originally Playstation exclusive have only been launched on PC years later. I don't think that bothers many people because for a long time the game is actually exclusive to the Sony consoles. I don't think Sony are planning on simultaneous or close launches.

Given these games aren't released yet, if they're actually in the state they're in they could be completely ready for a simultaneous release.

Or it could just be a non-sequitor where sure, nVidia got the game prototype running on their cards, but there's nothing special at all. The game is developed on the PC after all, so they probably run a lot of it on the PC to avoid needing to tie up a dev kit to test.

After all, you do the bulk of development on the PC, including testing and bug fixing, and then you sta

    • Do games designed around a controller actually play well on keyboard and mouse? I've only used a PC to play games, but when most where optimized for consoles and controller control I bought an Xbox controller to play them. Now I only use the keyboard and mouse to play FPS games.
I never thought most designed-for-console games would play decently with and keyboard and mouse
    • They should port inFamous over to PC.
      And Folklore.

    What??

Like, Lucasarts style adventure or Bethesda style first person open world? Seeing the words, âoeIndiana Jones gamesâ, makes me salivate for the former and leaves me uncomfortable about the latter.

  • If this list had an entry for Global Thermonuclear War, someone better call the boys at NORAD and give them a heads up for scruffy looking Seattle kids.
  • I can see this not actually being on the PC. Sony will prolly just port the PlayStation Now service over.
  • Due entries such as Chrono cross remaster and actraiser remake.

  • Don't count on in.

    Sincerely,
    Tim Sweeney

The implication that everyone is taking away is that the "exclusives" will be coming to PC. The implication I took away is that nVidia has a bunch of stuff that they're testing in the background, but not releasing publicly for expectation of lawsuits over it. The inclusion of Dolphin [dolphin-emu.org] seems to indicate that they're playing around with emulation capabilities and other things that would be unlikely to be officially released. Perhaps someone in the office is even supporting development of these emulators in their off time and decided it'd be a good idea to share it with other employees.

    My $0.02.

  • Essentially all modern console games "have a PC version", it's just whether it gets released or not. Everyone develops on PCs for obvious reasons.

  • It's not a leak. It's viral marketing!
