Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has had record sales of $800 million worldwide in sell-through following the first three days from its release. VentureBeat reports: The full title debuted on October 28 after hitting early-access release for the single-player campaign on October 20, breaking all previous three-day sales records since the franchise debuted in 2003. The blockbuster opening tops any of the biggest worldwide box office openings of 2022, surpassing Top Gun: Maverick, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness worldwide box office openings combined, Activision Blizzard announced (based on data from boxofficemojo.com). The company didn't say the exact number of copies sold, but it beat out the titles from the past two years as well as 2019's hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's opening.

Allegedly the sale isn't finalized. Public sources indicate that the sale will be complete sometime in mid 2023:

The gaming industry has long suffered the lack of real innovation.
The average gamer is a dumbass, the industry has been stealing games since 1997 with the rise of ultima online. Sony, Intel, AMD and the rest have been pushing the trusted computing initiative to lock us out of our computing devices which has been coming to fruition from windows 8+ onwards.
Windows 11+ will move off the old win32 executable model and towards a totally locked down machine. We warped back to mainframe computing of the 60's and 70's when the mmo/steam generation killed honestly compiled text

Well, Steam is trying to push gaming towards Linux with its Steam deck. Granted, the goal is again to vendor-lock-in the population, but if it means games will run on Linux, it at least punts the ball down the field for a couple years 'til Steam forks away from Linux to roll its own lock-in mechanism... hopefully by then we'll have found a new way to thwart it.

I prefer games that have physics engines that ignore reality. The point of a game is to do things you can't do in real life. What's the point of playing a game if it is just another chore? I have those to do already. Oh that reminds me that I need to take out the actual trash...brb

Sure, if it means fun gameplay with nail guns, rocket launchers, BFGs, shrink rays, rail guns, etc. Or movement that's fun feeling.
IDK what the point is of a hyper realistic military game with sort of realistic gun sights, handguns with pinpoint accuracy to a mile and no travel time, mechanical feeling footwork, adadad spam, rounds impacting you unnoticed, explosions rocking you nowhere like you're made of stone, same old "headshot" damage model to help twitchy players that don't need it.

Why they don't go the EA way and just stick the year number to the title, it would make it heaps easier to see which one is the current one and which ones can't be played anymore because the servers have been shut down.

Modern Warfare got a reboot in 2019, and it was very successful in comparison to Advanced Warfare which was widely-panned by players. Activision's various dev houses have had to go back to the trough to keep up their release cycle.

Being in OG battlefield badcompany 2 player, I can't deny that this game is pretty fun to play. Yeah some modes I'm not into but overall, it feels pretty crisp. It can use some optimization but the overall experience feels good.

There's definitely aiming involved, but for console/controller players, it's performed automatically by the game.

To be fair, console jockeys need to play with aimbots because those clunky controllers already mean that it takes them half an hour to turn around. Have you tried to aim with those nubsticks?
As long as they stay out of my games, they can aimbot each other to death for all I care.

Exact same game as MW1. Nothing interesting and new except for better graphics. It requires shitty Battle.net. Requires phone number to play. Same exact shitty progression/unlock system. Same game modes. Same controller aim bots. Same shitty physics engine. They put absolutely no effort into making these games. The only people who can call this game good are dumb Chad-bros who primarily shop at Lids.
