Netflix Plans To Release 40 More Games This Year, Will Add Monument Valley in 2024 (techcrunch.com) 24
Netflix has announced that it has 40 games slated for launch this year and has 70 in development with its partners. The company also has 16 games currently being developed by its in-house game studios. Netflix launched games in November 2021 and has released 55 titles since then. From a report: The streaming service says it's committed to building out its games portfolio and will be bringing Ustwo's Monument Valley franchise to its platform, starting with Monument Valley 1 and Monument Valley 2, with more to come. In a briefing with reporters, Ustwo CEO Maria Sayans confirmed that the Netflix versions of the games won't be different than the current available versions, and that they will include all paid in-app purchases.
The streaming service also announced that Mighty Quest: Rogue Palace, a rogue-lite game set in the universe some may remember from The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, will be launching in April 18. The game, which is from Ubisoft, features an improved formula, deepened narrative and upgraded frantic action gameplay. The launch is part of Netflix's partnership with Ubisoft, and is the second of three exclusive games from the developer to be released on Netflix. The first exclusive game, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, launched in January.

They've already got a bunch of mobile games released. Good ones. Moonlighter and Arcanium stand out to me, but they're basically just doing the Apple/Android Arcade thing and you get to play stuff in the library. If you already have a Netflix account, it's a nice addition. I don't know that it would KEEP me on the service, but I definitely consider it an excellent value-add.

A good game can be really straight forwarded. Half Life for example. No going off the beaten path there. You shoot things and move in a general forward direction. Spec Ops: The Line wouldn't work if you were just allowed to do anything.

You're right there is a lot of scope for improvement of their current offerings, I guess earning the big bucks at Netflix doesn't mean they are smart enough to think of these things.

You just invented cable TV. The thing most people actually don't want and are moving away from. These days, when I do want to spend time on television, I'd want to select a show and watch the episodes in-order. Even sitcoms have plots that move forward from episode to episode that require context. Why would I want them all jumbled up?

I just ADDED THE OPTION for cable TV, without commercials. Something people DO WANT.
There's no reason you can't pick exactly what you want AND/OR pick a playlist. This is exactly how spotify premium works.

I was actually discussing this with my mom the other day. It used to be that if you just wanted to crash on the couch and watch TV you had to watch what was on. It might not be exactly your genre, but it was probably close enough.
Now? Now you only see what you really want. You only watch what is in your comfort zone. If something isn't exactly what you want you just find something that is. And the result is that your boundaries are never challenged. You may be into sci-fi and fantasy, but does that mean you

Me? I'm watching Korean dramas, MasterChef Mexico, and loving every minute of the variety available.
