Ghosthunter - Sony's Ectoplasmic New Horror Title 4

Thanks to Gametab for pointing to a new C+VG interview with the creative director of Sony Cambridge's new PS2 action title, Ghosthunter. This title uses the graphics engine of the good-looking Sony title Primal, and is summed up like this: "..imagine Ghostbusters, dark, adult, horror, but still with the little macabre weird stuff we've always done in Studio Cambridge games [like Medievil]." There also a few screenshots available on Gamespot.

  • The screen shots look like Doom3, most excellent! I hope they did well on the gameplay and its not all eyecandy, seems like more and more games I play look awesome and last about a week before they are boring and repetative.

Here's hoping for a good one!

I made the mistake of reading the interview before looking at the screenshots. After reading, I had the 'Oh great, sounds like trumped up Luigi's Mansion...' opinion, but one look at this [gamespot.com] floored me. I can totally see this game being a great one.

    • Yes, that screenshot is FREAKY looking.

I'm playing Primal right now, and the engine is pretty impressive, especially for the PS2. My only complaint about Primal is the fighting systems lacks depth, and the camera is slighly problematic at times.

It definately plays better than other similar games, like Resident Evil.

Ghost Hunter looks good... I can't wait.

      • Yes, i've read that those were problems with Primal... hopefully, as far as fighting goes, it won't apply as much in this game, which seems more weapon based then melee combat. And they seem to be taking a more cinematic approach (guessing from the limited screenshots available), so maybe that will clear up some camera issues. If not, im sure they have the time to clear these things up... I hope anyway! :P
