Metal Gear - Twin Snakes Delayed, Snake Eater Trailed 14

Thanks to PlanetGameCube for their new story pointing out Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes has been delayed into 2004, according to Nintendo and Konami's websites. This GameCube-exclusive "remix of the PSone classic, Metal Gear Solid" also has a new, (spoiler-filled, brief synopsis available) Tokyo Game Show trailer, showcasing the in-game cinematic direction by Japanese movie director Ryuhei Kitamura. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for PlayStation 2 also has a new Tokyo Game Show trailer (again, brief synopsis available), similar to the one shown at ECTS in London earlier in the month, and including many "scenes... seeping with James Bond flavor."

    My impressions from the trailer:
    • The character models have been improved significantly
    • The story has some minor changes
    • There are some pretty looking cutscenes
    • When using the binoculars when its snowing, snowflakes appear on the view
I'm looking forward to this remix, but I hope that you get a bit more for your money if you've already played the original. The website says that Twin Snakes will combine the best features of MGS1 and MGS2, so we'll see how it all works out.
    • It's amazing what they've done with the PS2 really. For a platform that is supposed to be technically inferior in every way to the others out there Konami seems to be doing some amazing things with it still.

I'm so glad it's a remake of MGS1 instead of a port of MGS2. MGS2 has been ported to death. PS2, Xbox, PC... Then back to PS2 in the form of "Substance", which was already on Xbox. Something like that, anyway.

I couldn't get into MGS2. I tried, but it didn't happen; Way too much uninteresting dialogue. I'm glad this game is coming out. I'd rather have a superior remake of a fantastic 5-year old game, than an inferior port of a nonsensical 2-year old game. The trailer looks rad.

Oh, and MGS3 is still more th
  • The trialer for Twin Snakes looked awesome! I'm willing to wait through the delay based on that. When it does come out though it will be a great addition to the pile of evidence against the "GameCube only has kiddie games!" crowd.
  • My thoughts:

I'm feeling much better about Twin Snakes. The first trailer left a sour taste in my mouth, this new one makes me feel a lot better.

Some of the new cinematics look great. Did I catch a little added foreshadowing in the trailer, in the scene with Snake and Gray Fox fighting while Ocelot runs away minus one arm? Fox saying "Do you remember me now?" combined with the fight itself...

The voices don't bother me so much anymore, although it sounds as though Otacon's been re-voiced? It's either no
