koniosis writes "XboxLink has just launched their new site for XLink Kai7 - this nifty little soon-to-be-available tool lets you play LAN-enabled games over the internet with some funky packet sniffing. You can play PS2/Xbox and Gamecube games online, connecting through your PC, and it's completely free - there's even 'integrated Speex.org codec based group chatting'! The XLink Kai download client itself 'will debut... on Saturday 22nd May, at midnight BST', according to the site, but you can register as part of the community now." We've previously covered the WarpPipe tunneling software for GameCube, but this multi-platform solution looks even more enticing.

    b) Is there some problem with the Xbox Gateway? Perhaps it hasn't been updated in 3 years because it still works. I haven't had any problem with it.

M$ will sure love this. Especially since mostly all the games (all but 3) that Xlink supports are Xbox titles.
Great idea though. I sure think it's a rip off to have to pay 50 a year to hear teen punks saying "Hey, get the fsck off my server!"

If you have a linux box, and some of your friends also have boxen this is easy with a simple
pppd noauth passive pty "ssh -C $THEIRBOXEN -o Batchmode=yes pppd notty notty noauth" ipparam vpn $LOCALLANADRESS:$REMOTELANADDRESS
Then config routing on all boxes.
Been doning it for months now. With the -C option to ssh the whole things gets compressed. Works well, but I did wish that I could port it to windows for my other friends w/o boxen. Ah well...

This really brings to mind the old software package Kali, which would do the same for IPX and local lan PC games. This was great for games like Doom and Duke Nukem
