While it was fun for a bit, PC gamers stick to what we know best: 1 keyboard and mouse for each of us.
Problem is that most popular PC operating systems (that is, Windows, Windows, and Windows) do not properly recognize and address multiple keyboards and multiple pointing devices plugged into a single computer, so if you want to do multiplayer gaming, you have to buy multiple PCs.
And even with one PC per player, it would still be a good idea to see the screens of other people on your team, right? As f

Is there simply no such demand [for split screen gaming on the PC] or the hardware is incapable?
In general, the PC is often in a separate room from the TV, or dad wants to do some spreadsheets while the kids are playing video games, or the PC is running an operating system that can't properly address multiple keyboards and multiple mice.

Valve is one of those rare anomaly's that come along in the developer world. They make great games and they charge fair prices. That alone is hard to come by these days. But to find a developer that actually EMBRACES it's mod community instead of shunning them and threatening them with lawsuites and crap, now that's near impossible to come by these days.

For those who don't know, the spiritual successor to GoldenEye on the N64 was Perfect Dark, on the same system. The sequel to that is called Perfect Dark Zero and is a launch title for the XBox 360.
I dont know about Perfect Dark Zero, but Perfect Dark (on the N64) was even better than GoldenEye.

I'm surprised it hasn't had more kudos really. It's a fantastic deathmatch game, with tons of weapons, characters and game modes. Although TS2 (at least, I haven't played the others much) suffers from the console game problem of having to unlock stuff through single player play for multiplayer, which can grate a bit.

Retailers (the real guys with money) tell the publishers just what they'll stock. Publishers then tell the developers just what they'll publish (see above). Then developers just rehash what's already been done, adding a couple of graphics enhancements but not bothering with much else. Because that's what the retailers say they will exclusively sell. Do the world a favour, and start buying (indie) games right from the developers rather than buying games at retail.
Indie games do not run on my GameCube or on my PlayStation 2. PC games generally do not have same-screen multiplayer.

Ideally, that would not be necessary. Ideally, Free Radical would say, "Hey, I bet those PC guys would like some hot Goldeneye-style lovin'", and proceed to port TimeSplitters 3 to the PC.
