Looks like emulation is going the open-source way, just look at the success of Snes9x (now available on DOS, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, MacOS, Solaris, SunOS, RiscOS, BeOS, Irix, HP-UX, AmigaOS and the N64 itself."
