Microsoft's Next Xbox Series X Game Showcase Coming July 23 (arstechnica.com) 21
Microsoft will be holding its next Xbox Games Showcase on July 23, the company announced today. Ars Technica reports: Unlike Microsoft's May promotional event, which focused on third-party launch titles for the upcoming console, the July 23 event is expected to discuss first-party exclusives from Microsoft's own Xbox Game Studios. That likely includes new footage of Halo Infinite, which saw a new teaser trailer a few weeks ago. That lineup of first-party studios now includes Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine, which Microsoft acquired in June, and The Outer Worlds developer Obsidian Entertainment, which Microsoft acquired last November.

What's the name of the 5th-generation PlayStation? PlayStation 5. It's easy, anyone can understand that and there's nothing to remember. The naming scheme just makes sense.
What's the name of the 5th-generation Xbox? Only fanboys know the answer to that. It makes no sense that "Xbox One" is better than "Xbox 360", and what is "Series X" supposed to mean anyway? The Xbox generations have pointless names driven by the marketing department, just like Windows.

Agreed, the marketing drones at MS are fucking clueless. When you basically need to use a "cheat sheet" just to keep track of which generation the console is then you've failed.

2 = Xbox 360

4 = XSex
i.e. The name Xbox One was stupid -- how do you search for the first Xbox games???

You just somehow KNOW they named their second gen Xbox 360 instead of Xbox 2 because "We don't want to sound like we're a generation behind versus PlayStation 3." Brilliant!
It shouldn't be all that surprising when you look at the bizarro-land naming schemes Windows went through.

Oh probably. Hey look our name has a 3 in it like the other guys so they'll know we are just as good. When the mid generation improvement to XBox X comes out it'll probably be named something stupid like XS, or XL.
Should just screw with people like Apple does and just brand the thing XBox and let the nerds say "a 2022 XBox" or whatever when it matters. Of course you'd then need to try to keep capability for a long time so people treat them more like a desktop that fits under your TV.
